Routine traffic stop leads to armed robbery arrest

Bridgeport police say they arrested an armed robbery suspect today after evidence they found during a routine traffic stop tied him to the crime.
Investigators say they became suspicious around 3 a.m. after pulling over a man who was found with a face mask in the back of his car. They say 22-year-old Donald Scott, of Bridgeport, led police on a foot chase at Reservoir and Trumbull avenues after his car hit a curb.
Scott began vomiting, according to police. Authorities say he had swallowed a large amount of narcotics, which had possibly been wrapped in a latex glove that then ruptured. Police say Scott was rushed to the hospital, where the narcotics were recovered. He could have died, according to police.
Police say the mask and video evidence tied Scott to a nearby armed robbery a few hours earlier at a gas station on Reservoir Avenue.
Police say Scott had several outstanding warrants. Scott was described as having a violent past.
