Stratford High School was temporarily placed on lockdown this morning following an altercation where someone thought a student may have had a knife.
Police are stressing the altercation was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to any students, faculty or staff.
The principal has confirmed a knife never was displayed during the altercation.
According to police, the fight broke out by the boys’ locker room just as the school day was starting.
Principal Jack Dellapiano says one of the students involved left the building.
Dellapiano says a parent dropping off their student saw him and told security it looked like he pulled out "something shiny."
The school was immediately placed on lockdown.
Within an hour, police say they found the student walking home and took him into custody.
A second student involved was also taken into custody.
Police then determined it was safe to lift the lockdown.
The principal says this comes just a day after a threat was posted on social media, telling students to not come to school.
Police confirmed Thursday night the threat was not credible.
Several parents pulled their kids from class this morning following the lockdown, saying their children just weren't comfortable being at school.
The principal says two letters to have been sent out to parents, one regarding the threat and the other regarding the lockdown.
Dellapiano wants to stress that the students are safe.
As for the two students involved in the altercation, they're currently at police headquarters with their parents.
