Tenants at one Crown Heights public housing building say they are lucky to be alive after their ceiling caved in over the weekend.

Residents on the top floor of the Weeksville Gardens development say they heard a terrifying sound in the middle of the night coming from a bedroom. That noise turned out to be sheetrock crashing to the floor.

The situation isn't new. They say this is the third collapse in their building in less than a year.

"The hole was big and the way it fell you would think someone just pushed it down, but from it being the leak and it being so wet it just came down instantly. If it wasn't for a friend of mine pulling her back, my daughter would've been injured in the mix of the ceiling falling," says resident Princess Morris.

City Housing Authority officials are apologizing for the ordeal, and say they are working to fix the problem.

A NYCHA spokesperson says they have temporarily relocated the family to another apartment.
