CLIFTON -

A Clifton parochial school will remain closed Friday after a fire damaged part of the school.

The fire started inside St. Phillip the Apostle Prep School on Valley Road early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were able to knock the fire down, but they had to return after the fire sparked back up. A 40-foot section of the ceiling was damaged.

The parish priest tells News 12 New Jersey that firefighters told him electrical issues started the blaze.

Classes are expected to resume Monday.
