Cheddar Afternoon Business Update 1/8: Golden Globes, Honest Company, Samsung
Streaming stole the show Sunday night at the Golden Globe Awards, giving traditional television networks and movie studios a run for their money.
Amazon won big with its original series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," as did Hulu with "The Handmaid's Tale." Netflix's "Master of None" took home an award for Aziz Ansari as best actor.
The Honest Company is hitting some roadblocks. Sales of actress Jessica Alba's consumer goods startup were reportedly flat in 2017 after reaching $300 million the year before. Honest has been struggling with product problems in recent years, including recalls of its baby powder and baby wipes, and ingredient-labeling issues related to its laundry detergent.
In tech news, Samsung received a patent to create a phone with screens on both sides, according to Let's Go Digital. Samsung has not confirmed any of the designs yet.
