Middlesex sheriff promotes first female Hispanic officer to rank of sergeant

NEW BRUNSWICK -

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office has promoted its first female Hispanic officer to the rank of sergeant.

Sgt. Yvonne Zirrith has served with the department since 2007.

“I hope to make the department proud as...the first Hispanic female sergeant in the department and I’m very proud of that,” she said.

Five other officers were also promoted during Tuesday’s ceremony.
