Revelers look to ferries for New Year’s Eve transportation

NEW YORK CITY -

With trains and buses expected to be crowded and road closures in effect for New Year’s celebrations, some people turned to ferries for transportation.

The NYPD was expecting up to 2 million people in Times Square for the festivities.

New York Waterway's ferries are among those that diligently carry commuters, tourists and event revelers across the Hudson River.

“There's no delays on the water. There's no traffic,” said Jen Schuck, of New York Waterway. “It's affordable, it's fast and we're running late-night service just for New Year's Eve.”

New York Waterway's ferries were running every 20 minutes for New Year's Eve.

An adult one-way ticket from Weehawken to Midtown Manhattan is $9. Kids ride free.

News 12 is told that 24-hour parking is offered across the street from the terminal in Weehawken.
