Suspected wanted in Linden murder surrenders to police
A Linden man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in town Wednesday afternoon has surrendered to police.
Shansey Abernathy, 23, turned himself in about 24 hours after he allegedly shot and killed 27-year-old Alphonso Pearson in front of Pearson’s home on the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue.
Pearson was taken to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth following the shooting, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Abernathy was charged with murder and weapons offenses. He is being held at the Union County Jail and is expected to appear in court Friday morning.
