Police: 4 face charges after alleged sex assault at Hoboken HS

Four teenagers are facing charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault of another student at Hoboken High School, authorities said Tuesday.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says that the assault happened inside the school on Nov. 30 when the four male teens allegedly pushed a 17-year-old female student into a room where she was fondled and forced to perform a sexual act.
The school surveillance system captured the victim being pushed into the room, according to officials.
Prosecutors say that a 17-year old student faces several charges, including aggravated sexual assault, aggravated sexual contact and kidnapping.
Two 16-year-old students also face charges, including conspiracy to commit aggravated sexual assault and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Amir Goodwin, 18, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact, among other charges. Prosecutors say that Goodwin allegedly video recorded the incident on his cellphone.
“There will be a thorough investigation of this case which is deeply disturbing on so many levels; the ages of all the alleged individuals involved, the acts alleged, and the brazenness of where they took place. Children in school need to feel safe and parents need to feel confident of their safety,” said Prosecutor Esther Suarez in a statement.
The names of the other three teens were not released because of their ages. All four teens were arrested on Nov. 30.
Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Amir Goodwin was charged with aggravated sexual assault.
