A new exhibition from the New Jersey Hall of Fame has opened inside Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal B.
The exhibit features interactive holograms of famous New Jersey natives and residents.
Musician Wyclef Jean was on hand for the first day of the project. Jean moved to Newark from Haiti when he was 13 years old.
The holograms are interactive – travelers can touch buttons prompting the holograms to talk to them. There are several holograms, including Jean and astronaut Mark Kelly. Three more are expected to be installed in March.
The exhibition is thanks to a $400,000 grant from the state.
“Forty million people come through [the airport]…so this is really a perfect opportunity to showcase what’s positive about New Jersey,” says NJ Hall of Fame Board of Trustees chairman Steve Edwards.
Jean says that the most valuable part of the exhibit will be its impact on children. He says that he wants to inspire them to be involved with their community and politicians.
“Make sure that you hold them accountable to make the communities better,” he says.
The exhibit will also feature video monitors and a new wall of fame.
