A snowstorm Friday brought several inches of snow to parts of New Jersey, slowing the evening commute.
“I didn’t even know it was going to happen. I like it. It’s Christmas time,” says New Brunswick resident Jay Henry.
Road crews were out in New Brunswick early Friday to get a jump on salting the roads. Conditions were still slick for most of the day. Warning signs were all along Route 18 cautioning drivers.
But the snow did not stop many New Jerseyans from getting their Christmas shopping done.
The owner of Coastal Evergreen, outside the Brunswick Square Mall, says that he saw an uptick in his Christmas tree business Friday thanks to the snow.
“I’ve been very good. Brisk on a brisk day. Snow seems to bring people out. I guess it get them in the Christmas spirit,” says Bill Kohlhap. “We’ve been very busy.”
The snow mostly cleared out by 8 p.m. This was the third snowstorm New Jersey saw this week.
New Jersey is expected to see temperatures warm slightly by the beginning of next week.
