Pet website releases most popular dog names of 2017

The pet website Rover.com has released a list of the most popular dog names in the United States for 2017.
The report found that 44 percent of all dog names this year were human names.
Many of the names came from pop culture references like “Stranger Things” and “Star Wars.” Rover says that 53 percent of dog owners named their dogs after popular book, TV or movie characters.

Rover says that names based on “90s” culture were also up, with the name “Nirvana” increasing 171 percent this year. “Star Wars”-inspired names were up 70 percent this year, according to the website.
