Police ramp up security at LI train stations after subway pipe bomb

Police in Nassau and Suffolk counties say they are boosting patrols at train stations and other sites following the pipe bombing Monday morning in an underground New York City subway corridor.
Authorities say a man inspired by the Islamic State group detonated a crude device that was strapped to his body in a crowded corridor near Times Square during the morning rush. Three people suffered minor injuries. The 27-year-old suspect was wounded and was taken into custody.
Police say there are no credible threats against Long Island, but they are monitoring the developments in the investigation and are taking precautionary steps to boost security.
"Our guys are embedded with the NYPD and the MTA. We work together very closely on sharing intelligence and if that develops more, we'll react to it," says acting Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
Ryder says residents can expect an increased police presence related to the New York City attack for at least the next few days.
Officials are also reminding Long Islanders: if you see something, say something.
