A beloved comic book store in the Bronx is closing its doors after two decades in business.
Magnum Comics and Cards on Riverdale Avenue has been open for 27 years, but is slated to close at the end of the month.
Owner Neil Shatzoff says he will miss his customers and the comradery that comes with being a part of the comic book community in New York City.
"This is something that I love and I get to talk to a lot of people about what they like [and] what I like. We'll compare things, we'll be friendly about it, we'll fight about it, and argue that this character is stronger than this character," Shatzoff says.
The innocence of the shop provided a space where comic book readers collected the stories of classic characters like Superman and Batman and gave Shatzoff's customers a place that has belonged to them for almost three decades.
"I'm kind of sad about it because there is a comradery with the customers as they come in," Shatzoff says.
