Top morning business and technology headlines for Dec. 1, 2017:

  • Investors have their eyes on Capitol Hill Friday for any signs on whether the tax reform bill will pass. The DOW surged past the 24,000 mark Thursday for the first time ever on signs that Republicans will have enough votes to pass it.
  • Barnes and Noble is getting back to basics.  Sales fell by about 6 percent in the last quarter, so now the book seller is thinking smaller stores focused on books. The company’s CEO says they want to declutter stores with fewer toys and games and other tchotchkes.
  • Domino's has announced it is launching a baby registry service where loved ones can buy dinner for expectant moms and dads. The move comes, fittingly, exactly nine months after the successful launch of Domino's wedding registry program. Gift packages include "hormonal and hungry" and "sleeping through the night.”
