Downtown Newton transforms into Harry Potter's Diagon Alley

Posted: Updated:
NEWTON -

Wizards and muggles alike were out and about in Newton's downtown area this weekend for a special event.

Downtown Newton was transformed into Diagon Alley, the cobblestone shopping district from the world of Harry Potter where wizards shop for wands, spell books and other magical goods.

The response was so big that dozens of businesses got involved. People could buy items like wands and potions, and there was even a quidditch match at Memory Park.

The event followed Newton's annual holiday parade. It was intended to draw more shoppers for Small Business Saturday.
