Police say they have arrested three people in connection with a deadly Thanksgiving carjacking in Newark.
Police say Shuri Henry stepped out of her car around 10:30 p.m. with a bag of Thanksgiving leftovers in hand. As she was heading inside, three people approached and shot her. Police say the suspects then took her car keys and stole her black Kia Sorento.
Henry's 10-year-old nephew was with her when she was shot at her front door. He was unharmed.
Police say they spotted the suspects, two grown men and a 15-year-old, sitting in the Kia Friday morning at Springfield Avenue and Jacob Street. A foot chase ensued, and police arrested two of them. They eventually apprehended the third as well.
Friends say Henry lived alone and had done a lot of work for the Boys and Girls Club in Newark.
Moments before Henry was killed, police say the three suspects attempted to carjack another woman a block away. That potential victim was able to speed off.
