Minimum wage for Bergen County employees raised to $15

Some Bergen County employees will soon get a pay raise.
County officials announced Tuesday that they have increased the minimum wage for all full-time county employees to $15. The increase includes hospital attendants, security guards and maintenance workers.
Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced the increase at a news event.
“Our workers who put in 40 hours a week in service to their neighbors in the great county deserve and have earned a $15 minimum wage,” he said.
Bergen County is the first county in New Jersey to initiate a countywide increase.
Gov.-elect Phil Murphy announced Monday his plans to start the process to increase minimum wage to $15 for New Jersey overall.
