Police: Derby homeowner chases home invaders to Westport

Three men broke into a Derby home Tuesday morning, attacked the owner, then turned around and fled to Westport with him in pursuit.
Two of them remain at large, according to police there.
"A better response would have been to pull over and contact police and provide a license plate and description of the vehicle," says Lt. Jillian Cabana, of the Westport Police Department.
Witnesses say the homeowner slammed his car into the suspects' white van in front of Bagel Maven on Post Road East.
Luis Campos, who works there, says it was like something right out of a movie.
The suspects fled, and the homeowner tried to mow them down with his car, Campos says.
"I've never seen anything like that, and I grew up in New York City," he says. "Personally, I've never seen anything like I just witnessed today."
Police say one the suspects was taken to Norwalk Hospital for minor injuries.
The other two, described as Hispanic men with thin to medium builds, escaped. They were wearing jeans and hooded sweatshirts.
Police are advising homeowners in the area to lock their doors and contact them to report anything suspicious.
