Red Bank holds town-wide hurricane relief fundraiser

The Red Bank community is doing their part to raise funds to help with hurricane relief after a series of storms devastated parts of the United States and its territories.
The event is called Red Bank Gives Back and is taking place this weekend. People who wish to donate can do so at several businesses and theaters around the town.
Many of the residents in Red Bank were affected by Superstorm Sandy and they tell News 12 New Jersey that this is their chance to give back to those who helped them out.
"To give back, I gotta tell you, a lot of people helped us during that time and I feel privileged to help other people now,” says John Nardini, owner of Cupcake Magician on Monmouth Street.
Nardini says that anyone who donates $10 will get a free cupcake. A $20 donation will get you four free cupcakes and $40 will net nine free cupcakes.
There are 50 businesses in Red Bank taking part in the donation event, including Yestercades and Two River Theater. The theater collected $1,000 at its show Thursday night. Several restaurants in town are also taking part.
Danny’s Steakhouse owner Daniel Murphy says that he has friends on the island of St. John, which was leveled by one of the storms.
"I haven't been able to reach them so I know St. John is devastated,” he says.
Danny’s Steakhouse is participating in the relief effort. Customers can make donations inside.
The relief effort was put together by the Red Bank Visitors Center. All of the money will go to the organization called Direct Relief.
The collection continues through Saturday. Information about the event can be found HERE.
