Guide: Haunted houses in New Jersey

Looking for a good scare this Halloween? Check out some of the frightening haunted houses in New Jersey. Please check with the location before heading out as dates, times and prices are subject to change.

Bane Haunted House

Info: Listed as one of the most terrifying in the nation by Buzzfeed, Bane Haunted House features dozens of actors who try to scare you to your core. Those actors will touch you, but they won’t hurt you. At some point, everyone will be asked to separate, so you will experience part of the haunted house alone. There are also two escape rooms.

BloodShed Farms' Fear Fest

Brighton Asylum

Info: Brighton Asylum was once called “The Scariest Place on Earth.”  The “legend” of the Asylum is that it used to be a psychiatric hospital that closed in the 1950s due to a number of unexplained occurrences. Its attractions include the Asylum, "The Tunnel," a horror museum and four interactive escape rooms.

Brookdale Haunted Theater

Info: Located at the Brookdale Community College - Performing Arts Center. This indoor, self-guided walk-through haunted house maze – which is designed, built and operated by more than a 100 Brookdale students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members – features themed mazes, pitch black zones, and special effects, all contained within the walls of the Performing Arts Center.

Camp Evans Base of Terror

Hours: Begins the weekend of Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28-29, and continues every Friday and Saturday in October from 7 to 11 p.m., weather permitting.

Info: Camp Evans Base of Terror is a fundraiser for the InfoAge Science Center. During the day, you can learn about science at New Jersey’s official World War II Memorial. At night, the grounds of the 100-year-old Army base are transformed for you to experience the half-mile journey.

C. Casola Farms Haunted Attractions

Casola Farms is a family owned business featuring five terrifying attractions for your entertainment, including The Hayride of Terror, The 3D Haunted Barn, The Haunted Wooded Trail, The Living Maze and The Marlboro Zombie Breakout. Now in its 18th year of business, C. Casola Farms is rated within the top 10 for tri-state haunted houses and hayrides. 

Cornfield of Terror

Info: R&J Farm transforms at night as the creatures from the Cornfield of Terror try to hunt you down. There is also a non-scary corn maze and outdoor movies for children.

Dracula’s Domain

Info: If you dare, hop on board a Haunted Hayride that runs through 66 haunted acres deep in the bowels of New Jersey's Pine Barrens. Continue the adventure with a walk through the Psycho Path and the Dead End Corn Maze.

    Field of Terror

    Info: "Farmer Frank” farmed more than 100 acres of land in East Windsor. He was bored with farming, so he experimented with some of the vegetation with some of the locals. The “results” are now on the land, and Ax Man still oversees the crops to this day.

    Haunted Scarehouse of Wharton

    Info: The Haunted Scarehouse challenges you to “two floors of fear," as you go through the Hayden Farmhouse and up to the second floor. In order to get out, your whole group will be forced to escape. There are also four escape rooms that include live actors Friday through Sunday after 6 p.m.

    Info: Set in a historical wool mill from 1810 that now hosts a museum, the Haunted Village has been providing scares to tri-state residents for 28 years. The mill is transformed into 3 stories of twists and turns, never knowing what kind of ghouls and zombies you'll encounter with your next step.

    Info: Get ready for the scare of your life at the Hazlet House of Horrors – 6 rooms of alarming antics with tricks and treats galore. Halloween festivities will be hosted by Hazlet Recreation and the Raritan High School Performing Arts Department. The first hour of each night will be “Horror Lite” suggested for ages 9 and up. Anyone coming after that should prepare to be scared.
