Person of interest in robberies taken into custody after chase

A person of interest in a string of armed robberies was taken into custody early Thursday morning following a police chase that ended in Union Township, police told News 12 New Jersey.

Authorities said the armed robberies began Wednesday, with the alleged suspect taking off in a black pick-up truck. 

Officials said the thief committed another robbery Thursday morning. Police officers from Newark and Union caught up with the alleged robber following the most recent incident. A person of interest was taken into custody after a pursuit through Essex and Union counties. 

No additional details were immediately available.
