Administrators at Montclair State University officially opened the new School of Communications and Media Tuesday.

The university worked closely with the Sony Corporation, which provided the very best and latest equipment for the $65 million facility. Officials say that it took two years to design and build.

“We are the only campus in the United States that features a 4K television studio control room. We have three television control rooms, along with film studios, we have state-of-the-art radio studios, along with a host of other communications facilities,” says John Shannon, vice president for university advancement.

Administrators say that the new school gives students hands-on experience that rivals, or in some cases exceeds, what they will find in professional facilities.
