Over a dozen people were arrested in a child pornography sting in Monmouth County.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni says that the 14 men were arrested in the span of about a month.
Among those charged were a former government contractor, grocery store clerks and a professor from NJIT.
The suspects face charges of second- and third-degree child endangerment related to the possession and distribution of child pornography.
"These are real children, some of which are adults by now. So each time these get circulated, you re-traumatize that person. Every time it gets redistributed or shared on some file, you re-traumatize them, and it perpetuates the crime,” Gramiccioni says.
The prosecutor says the arrests were planned over the summer vacation because it's a time when children are most vulnerable.
