Cheddar morning business update 9/12: Lawmakers demand answers from Equifax

Top morning business and technology headlines for Sept. 12, 2017:

  • Lawmakers are demanding answers from Equifax about a massive breach that exposed the social security numbers and other personal info of roughly 143 million Americans. They also want to know if U.S. government agency records were compromised in the hack and a timeline of the breach.
  • Mercedes-Benz says it will offer electric versions of all its cars by 2022. The company also plans to turn its popular city SmartCar into a fully electric line by 2020. Volvo also recently announced that all of its cars will be electric within two years. 
  • A department store without clothes? Nordstrom is opening a line of new, smaller stores that won’t sell clothing or other items. Instead, it will offer services like manicures and tailoring and also personal stylists. The first Nordstrom Local store opens next month in Los Angeles.
