Top morning business and technology headlines for Sept. 11, 2017:

  • Tesla gave a boost to its customers in Florida who were fleeing Irma. The carmaker issued an over-the-air update to its cars in the state, giving them an extra 30 to 40 miles above the typical range of the vehicle.
  • Apple reportedly will show off a mysteriously-titled “iPhone X” at its big product launch Tuesday. The device will come with better lighting for its camera and “Animoji,” which are animated versions of popular emojis. A Face ID feature replaces Touch ID, meaning users will unlock the phone using facial recognition.
  • Stephen King’s thriller “It” broke records at the box office, bringing in $179.2 million in its opening weekend. That’s the most ever for a film debuting in September, and it’s also the largest ever for a horror movie.
