Murphy attacks rival over GOP lawmaker who posed with flag

(AP) - The Democratic candidate for governor in New Jersey says his Republican rival should publicly call out a state GOP lawmaker who was shown in a photo standing by a Confederate flag.
Speaking Wednesday at a news conference, Phil Murphy said Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno should clearly and forcefully condemn the Confederate flag and Assemblyman Park Space.
Guadagno's campaign said in a statement that she "consistently" condemned hatred and bigotry and criticized Murphy for distracting from his plans to raise taxes by $1.3 billion.
Guadagno initially said last month that she hadn't seen the social media posting.
Space and his wife posed in front of the flag at a Hank Williams Jr. concert last month. He defended the Facebook post and said he disagreed with criticism.
