Man proposes to woman during solar eclipse
A New Jersey couple’s solar eclipse experience may be one that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Adam Goetz, his girlfriend Dana Russo and her family gathered on the Manasquan beach Monday afternoon to watch the partial solar eclipse.
After Russo put on her special eclipse safety glasses, Goetz pulled out a diamond ring, got down on one knee, and proposed. The special event was all caught on video.
“I was astonished,” Russo said. “I love it. It was beautiful.”
Goetz previously told Russo’s family about his plan, so they knew what to expect.
“I kind of wanted to play into the whole diamond ring effect of the eclipse,” Goetz said. “Obviously New Jersey wasn’t getting the full eclipse, so I had to wait as far as I could.”
Russo’s younger brother filmed the event. The family was all there to witness it and say that they are extremely happy.
“I thought it was wonderful. I thought it was a clever idea,” Russo’s mother Cindi said.
Goetz and Russo have been dating for three years.
She said “Yes.”
