Several of New Jersey’s science institutes will be holding special events to commemorate Monday’s solar eclipse.
New Jersey residents will be able to see about 75 percent of the sun being blocked when the moon passes between the Earth and sun.
The Newark Museum has been showing a movie in its planetarium about the eclipse. The museum will hold a viewing evening Monday in its courtyard. Experts will be on hold to answer questions people might have about the eclipse.
The Liberty Science Center in Jersey City will also hold an event.
“We're going to have a whole lot of science educators right here on staff to explain what the science behind this event is,” says Liberty Science Center’s Andrew Yolleck.
The science center will also have telescopes outside to view the eclipse and will provide visitors with eclipse classes that will block out the harmful UV and infrared rays.
The next solar eclipse in the United States won’t take place until 2024.
