Handfuls of soon-to-be married couples were suddenly left without a wedding venue after the Atrium Country Club abruptly went out of business.

"We drove here and saw that there was a lock on the door and we were kind of shocked,” said Courtney Costa, who is supposed to marry her fiancé in just five weeks. “We didn't believe it."

News 12 is told the country club is facing bankruptcy but was unable to obtain further information about the closing.

Couples who booked their wedding at another popular venue in Jersey City are also facing a similar complication.

Representatives from Battello tell News 12 the venue was ordered to close as a result of repairs to the nearby pier that will take eight months.

Battello will provide a full refund to all of its customers.
