Military aircraft were spotted flying around New Jersey this weekend, prompting concerns from citizens.
But the Air Force tells News 12 New Jersey that the F 15E fighter jets were simply escorting some general aviation planes out of the Temporary Flight Restriction space put into place while President Donald Trump stays in Bedminster.
The Air Force says that three planes violated the restricted airspace and were escorted out. The pilots of those planes were compliant and questioned by officials at an airport, according to the Air Force.
The Air Force says that the agency only enforces the restriction. The FAA is in charge of investigating.
Calls to the FAA were not immediately returned.
President Trump and his family are staying at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster for what he calls a “working vacation” while the White House undergoes renovations.
