President Donald Trump spoke to Long Island law enforcement officers and officials Friday at Suffolk County Community College about their successes against MS-13 and the need for more resources in the fight against MS-13.

During his nearly 30-minute address, the president spoke about many topics, including securing the border against illegal entry and the need for a border wall. 

In a message directly to gang members, the president said, "We will find you, we will jail you, we will arrest you and we will deport you." He added that his administration is "liberating towns one by one" from gang violence, and said that he is "restoring law and order on Long Island."

During off-prompter moments, he spoke about the failed GOP health bill, as well as the need to get "rough" with gang criminals.

President Trump reiterated his support for law enforcement and spoke about the need for Congress to fund the addition of more Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. 

"The men and women of ICE are turning the tide in the battle against MS-13, but we need more resources from Congress, and we are getting them. Congress is actually opening up and really doing a job," said the president. 

The president also appeared to advocate rougher treatment of people in police. He spoke dismissively of arresting officers who protect suspects' heads while putting them in police cars 

He said: "You can take the hand off," drawing cheers from his audience. He also claimed that laws are written to "protect the criminal" and "not the officers."

President Trump told the law enforcement officials that the "laws are stacked against you" and need to be changed.

The family of Kayla Cuevas, who was killed by MS-13 members last year, was in attendance during the speech. Her mother told News 12 Long Island that she was glad President Trump came to SCCC and that he continues to bring attention to the issue of gang violence.
