At least two firefighters were reportedly taken to a hospital after battling flames late Wednesday night at a vacant building in Irvington, News 12 New Jersey has learned.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. at a structure in the 700 block of Lyons Avenue. No one was inside at the time, official said.
Fire crews from multiple towns responded to fight the fire, which produced smoke that was visible from the Garden State Parkway.
Officials said the heat and humidity lingering in New Jersey made it extra tough for firefighters.
News 12’s cameras captured one emergency responder receiving oxygen at the scene, but there was no official confirmation of the number of firefighters taken to a hospital or their conditions.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
