The New Jersey SPCA has filed animal cruelty charges against a man allegedly seen on video throwing a small dog during an apparent road rage incident in Montclair.
A viral video appears to show Marc Dione, 22, getting into an argument with another driver, Gary Keay, on Bloomfield Avenue near Gates Avenue.
Keay and Dione are seen in a physical scuffle when the video begins. The video appears to show Dione running over to Keay’s car, reaching in and then throwing the dog onto the sidewalk before speeding away.
The dog, a 12-year-old miniature pinscher named Daphne, was not seriously injured and ran back to its owner’s vehicle.
Dione was a driver for the ride-share company Lyft. A spokesperson for the company says that the incident did not happen while Dione was on the job. The spokesperson says that Dione will no longer be driving for Lyft.
