State’s largest LGBT group endorses Murphy for governor

New Jersey’s largest LGBT group is backing Democrat Phil Murphy for governor.
Garden State Equality made the endorsement Wednesday at its headquarters in Asbury Park.
The group has hosted roundtable discussions with the gubernatorial candidate over the past months. Executive Director Christian Fuscarino said that Murphy’s leadership is needed due to the White House’s agenda.
“I look at a lot of the good-minded, on-the-right-side-of-history legislators in this state, and there are many. I look at the bills and proposals that they have vetoed, the ideas that are on the runway. You add it all up and realize…only one piece of the puzzle is missing, and that’s a governor who is on your side. I will be that governor,” Murphy said.
A spokesperson for Republican gubernatorial candidate Kim Guadagno released a statement saying her campaign "is about making our state more affordable for all New Jerseyans regardless of race, background or sexual orientation."
