Hundreds of thousands of people took advantage of the great weather Tuesday to head to beaches in Belmar for the Fourth of July.

The lines at the Coney Waffle Ice Cream shop along Ocean Avenue stayed strong all weekend. It's the shop's second summer in Belmar, and the owner says the holiday weekend was a huge turnaround compared to last year. 

"Definitely the weather's amazing," says Lorene Zalick. "It's not like last year, it was kind of gloomy. I believe the weather is amazing. Belmar is the place to be."

Although the weather was favorable, the ocean ran a few degrees below normal, resulting in fewer people taking to the water.
