Ringwood detective saves bear cub

RINGWOOD -

A Ringwood police detective saved a bear cub that was caught in a net.

The cub became caught in a batting cage net, but Ringwood Police Detective Joe Longo was able to cut it open and set the bear free.

Video of the rescue was posted on the Ringwood PBA’s Instagram account.

Police say that animals often get tangled in nets like this and can sometimes die. They urge residents in high-animal traffic areas to take down nets when not in use.
