One person is dead and another has been hospitalized following a shooting at a motel in Woodbridge Township, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Police responded to the shooting just before 5 a.m. Wednesday at the Loop Inn Motel on Rodgers Street.
A source close to the investigation told News 12 New Jersey that Woodbridge police and the prosecutor’s office have detained six people for questioning, one of whom was taken into custody in New York.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey declined to provide any further information.
"I'm not going to make any determination at this point. I have no basis to make any conclusions at this point. (It's) still very early on in the investigation. The Woodbridge Police Department and our office, very capable individuals, we're out here and we'll get it right," he said.
The victims' names and ages have not yet been released.
The prosecutor's office said the injured victim was in surgery at University Hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not known.
No additional details were immediately available.
