Police are investigating a shootout in East Orange where multiple people may have been shot.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday near Central Avenue and Halsted Street.

Law enforcement officials have not released any information about the shooting, but witnesses tell News 12 New Jersey that they heard over a dozen gunshots and that at least two people were hurt.

A gray car near the scene had its windows shot out. The car was being towed away around 3 p.m.
