Police chase ends in crash in Newark; man arrested

One person was arrested late Sunday night after a police chase ended in a crash in Newark, authorities said.
Police said that shortly before midnight, a sergeant on patrol on Elizabeth Avenue saw two people run into a car after robbing someone. The sergeant pursued their vehicle to Sherman Avenue, where the driver lost control and struck a pole at Vanderpool Street.
Police arrested Lamar Williams, 21, of Newark at the scene and found a firearm, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. Williams requested medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.
Ambrose said Williams’ two accomplices escaped.
