Posted: Updated:A fifth-grader from Caldwell has raised thousands of dollars to help two friends who are battling rare medical conditions.
Sophia Pedrazzi has been holding Sophia’s Funds for Friends for the past six years, with the most recent event this past weekend.
Pedrazzi sells her own artwork, as well as donated toys and donated items that she collects from community businesses, in an effort to raise the funds.
“I feel passionate about this because I wanted to raise awareness for my two friends who meet medical difficulties every day,” she says.
Pedrazzi also runs races to raise money for her friends, Owen and Rafi, who suffer from a joint condition and skin disease.
She has raised more than $18,000. Many members of the community have also gotten involved in the effort.
