The warm weather Friday and expected for this weekend sent plenty of people to the great outdoors.

Parks along the Navesink River in Red Bank began filling up Friday evening amid sunny skies and temperatures in the low-80s.

Elsewhere in Monmouth County, just off Route 36 in Bayshore Park, lies an oasis on Raritan Bay that the masses often pass by.

"It's very calm, I really like it," said 14-year-old Breanna Farney, of Port Monmouth.

Farney spent the day dipping her feet in the sand and surf with her mother. They were virtually alone at the hideaway.

A little farther north, the Keansburg water park will be open on Saturday. Should temperatures peak in the mid-80s as they're expected, it's likely the park's 18 slides will fill up.

The heat was all good for everyone, though. Some youngsters reported that a number of slides at Tatum Park in Middletown were too hot to go down.

One resident said that while the water is still too cold for her liking, her kids are ready to dive in.

Water temperatures Friday were estimated to be around 59 degrees -- a little too chilly for most adults.
