Asbury Park has been named America's "coolest small town" by Budget Travel Magazine.

Budget Travel's website says that Asbury Park "exemplifies the cultural and ethnic diversity, creative energy and unparalleled natural beauty that have defined America for more than two centuries."

Beachfront areas in Asbury Park have seen major improvements over the last decade, but the people who live in the city's limits say they've always known their residence was pretty cool.

Rai Guerra-Nelson moved to Asbury Park from Brooklyn 17 years ago and created the "Asbury Infamous" brand, which is sold at Georgie’s Bar. All proceeds of his products go back to city LGBT charities.

"Wearing the brand outside the boardwalk people get asked all the time, what is that, where did you get that," Guerra-Nelson says. "They can then talk about all the cool things we do for the community."

According to the magazine, editors chose the top 10 coolest towns after going through thousands of suggestions from readers.
