A man was killed Wednesday evening after a garbage truck rolled off a ramp and onto cars in Woodbridge, police said.

Authorities said the truck rolled off the Route 440 ramp around 5 p.m. onto two cars that were traveling on Route 9. Traffic was backed up in the area for hours as police investigated and the scene was cleared.

Woodbridge police identified the victim Thursday morning as Brian Claussen, 27, of Old Bridge.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the others involved in the accident.
