A Manville man left paralyzed after a football injury was the recipient of a charity pig roast event.
The organizers of Pig Roast for Alex raised money Sunday for Jamie Cap. The group chooses someone from the community each year to help by hosting a pig roast barbecue and poker run.
Cap has been facing mounting medical bills.
“This should be the biggest event we’ve ever seen,” said co-chairman Scott Mikaelian. “It’s for one of Manville’s own. It’s Manville strong. We’re helping local people in the community.”
“I’m just glad to get together with everyone and glad everyone pulled together for me,” Cap said. “It’s going to help me a lot.”
Organizers estimated that over 600 people took part in the fundraiser to raise $10,000 to $15,000 for Cap’s medical and living expenses.
