Alligator spotted in Secaucus pond

Secaucus residents are being warned to be careful around one of the town's ponds.
A Secaucus Department of Public Workers employee says that an alligator was spotted in the duck pond near Metro Way earlier this month.
It is said to be about 2 ½ feet long.
The animal hasn’t been spotted since, but officials have posted signs around the pond warning people to use caution.
Officials think that the alligator may have been someone’s pet and was dumped into the pond by the owner.
