Forecast: Excessive heat warning issued for parts of NJ

New Jersey saw mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-90s Monday.

An excessive heat warning was issued for parts of the state due to the warm conditions. Several schools across the state had early dismissals due to the hot conditions.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Dave Curren says a storm system to the northwest of New Jersey is expected to bring some thunderstorms to the state over the next several days.

The overnight hours should see scattered thunderstorms with temperatures cooling slightly to the mid-70s.

Tuesday may start off cloudy with an increase in sunshine. High temperatures are expected to reach the upper-80s. Thunderstorms are possible overnight.

Wednesday should see a mix of sun and clouds with some late-day storms going into Thursday. High temperatures should reach the low-80s.

Thursday may see rain in the morning with partly sunny skies later in the day.
