Forecast: Heavy rain, thunderstorms possible Tuesday

Rain fell this morning across parts of New Jersey, and is expected to stick around for the majority of the day.

Multiple coastal flood advisories remain in effect.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist James Gregorio says temperatures Tuesday are expected to be in the mid-70s, with rain throughout the day. Gregorio says the rain could be heavy at times. There is also the threat for a thunderstorm.

When it's all said and done, the northwest part of the state could see around two inches of rain.

Temperatures overnight will drop into the high-60s, with mainly cloudy skies. There could be some light on and off showers throughout the overnight hours. 

Wednesday is expected to see temperatures in the low-70s, with mostly cloudy skies. The chance for some leftover showers remains. 

Thursday should see partly sunny skies. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s.
