HACKENSACK -

Heavy rains have caused flooding throughout Hackensack, forcing firefighters to rescue dozens of people.

About 2 1/2 feet of water is covering many streets in Hackensack. The heavy rain has taken its toll on not only Hackensack but many other communities throughout New Jersey Friday.

Firefighters say they had to rescue more than 40 people who were stranded in the floods. They say even a fire truck that was enroute to help also got stuck and had to be towed.

The good news is that the rain has stopped and some of the water has begun to recede.
