Thousands take part in New Jersey Marathon

Thousands of people took part in the annual New Jersey Marathon and half-marathon Sunday.
It marked the 21st annual race, which takes people through eight coastal communities in Monmouth County. Trumpets sounded as runners took off at Monmouth Park.
The finish line was in Long Branch down Ocean Avenue into Pier Village. The first to cross was Jeff Powers, of Philadelphia, with a time of 02:32:20.
Annie Onishi, of Westfield, took the women's title with a time of 02:54:16.
The race serves as a qualifier for next year's Boston Marathon.
Security was ramped up at Sunday's event following the incident seven months ago when a pipe bomb went off during a race in Seaside Park.
